Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account info — your name, phone number, and optional profile photo, used to identify you to your leagues.
• Golf data — scores you or your group post, rounds, courses played, RSVPs, and the handicap computed from them.
• Invite contacts — phone numbers you choose to invite. We use them only to send that invite; we never upload your address book.
• Chat & photos — messages and any photos you post in a league, tournament, or event chat, visible to that group.
• Location (optional) — only if you allow it, and only to show yardages while you play and to suggest the course you're standing on. Location is never tracked in the background or stored as a history.
• Voice dictation (optional) — only while you hold the dictate button in chat. Your speech is converted to text so you can send it as a message. We don't record, store, or keep the audio.

Permissions we ask for, and why

Golf TeeMates asks for each of these only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can decline or revoke any of them in your phone's settings without losing the rest of the app.

• Location — GPS yardages to the green while you play, and to suggest the course you're at. Never used in the background.
• Contacts — so you can pick a friend to invite or add to a round. Only the name and number you pick are used; your address book is never uploaded to us.
• Photos / camera — only the photos you choose, for your profile picture or a chat message.
• Microphone & speech recognition — only while you tap to dictate a chat message. On iPhone and Android, the speech-to-text conversion is performed by Apple's or Google's built-in speech service, which means the audio of what you dictate is processed by them under their privacy policies. We receive only the resulting text.

What we do with it

• Run your leagues: show scores, leaderboards, groupings, and handicaps to the members of leagues you join.
• Send SMS you've asked for: invites, round notices, and reminders. Reply STOP to any message to opt out.
• Improve the app with aggregate, de-identified usage data.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• We don't show you ads, and we don't let anyone else use your information to advertise to you.
• We don't move money. Golf TeeMates calculates results; any settling-up happens between players, outside the app.
• We don't message anyone who has opted out, and invitees who ignore an invite are never texted again about it.

Sharing

Your display name, scores, and handicap are visible to members of leagues you join — that's what the app is for. Beyond that, we share data with service providers only as needed to run the product, under contracts that limit their use of it. They are:

• Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account and golf data live here.
• Twilio — delivers the text messages you've opted in to.
• Apple and Google — process any subscription purchase, and provide the speech-to-text used for dictation.

We do not use advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting services, and we have no third-party trackers in the app.

Cookies & tracking

The Golf TeeMates app contains no advertising or analytics trackers, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. This website uses no cookies and no analytics.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account information and golf history for as long as your account exists, because your handicap is calculated from your past rounds. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our active systems immediately; routine encrypted backups containing it are purged on our normal rotation, within 30 days. Some information may remain in other members' league history where it's needed for their scores and leaderboards to stay accurate (for example, a group score you were part of), but it is no longer tied to your identifying account information.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS between the app and our servers, and encrypted at rest by our hosting provider. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. We never store payment card details — all purchases are handled by Apple or Google, and we never see your card number. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold.

Children's privacy

Golf TeeMates is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email privacy@golfteemates.com and we will delete it.

Your choices and your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of the following, free of charge:

• See it — get a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Fix it — edit your name, phone, email, and profile in Settings at any time, or ask us to correct anything else.
• Delete it — erase your account and data entirely, in the app under Settings › Account › Delete my account, at golfteemates.com/delete-account, or by emailing privacy@golfteemates.com.
• Take it with you — receive your golf history in a portable, machine-readable format.
• Stop the texts — reply STOP to any message; re-enable any time in Settings.

Email privacy@golfteemates.com to make any of these requests. We'll respond within 45 days, and we won't treat you differently for asking.

Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect about you and why, to request a copy of it, to correct it, and to have it deleted. You also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising — so there is nothing for you to opt out of. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@golfteemates.com or delete your account directly in the app (Settings › Account › Delete my account). We'll respond within 45 days. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.

SMS / text messaging

Golf TeeMates sends SMS text messages only to people who opt in: you consent when you enter your own phone number to sign in (receiving a one-time passcode) or when you join a league and choose to receive league notices (round invitations, RSVP reminders, group pairings, and results). Message frequency varies with your league's schedule. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time, and HELP for help, or contact support@golfteemates.com.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use-case categories exclude text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with, or sold to, any third parties.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date at the top, and where the change is significant we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
